Lore Recap: Ao Lie (敖烈), exclusive VIM in the Journey to the West series, arrived after being summoned by Austrför!
Ao Lie is a powerful ally in the VIMworld universe, but how did he come to meet Austrför and become part of the Outrider Clan? How will his actions shape the fate of Garu, who recently crash-landed in VIMworld?
Ao Lie, the Dragon Prince of the West Sea
Ao Lie is a central character in the Journey to the West epic.
In his own dimension and world, he is also known as the White Dragon Horse, the loyal follower and steed of Monk Tang Sanzang.
Ao Lie’s true identity is a dragon prince who is the third son of the Dragon King of the West Sea. Rebellious and full of energy, he was a playful prince in his youth. One day, the naughty prince set a fire that destroyed a pearl that was a gift from the Jade Emperor, angering both emperor and heaven.
To protect the West Sea Dragon Clan, he was forsaken by the Dragon King and family, and was due to be executed for committing this offense. Sensing his destiny, Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion appeared to plead for his life. Thus, the dragon prince was spared from death and banished to Yingchou Stream in Shepan Mountain, laying in wait for his future master and his destiny, accompanying the monk in his pilgrimage to the West, and eventual ascension together with his companions and master.
After his ascension to the realm of the Divine Pantheon, he crossed paths with Austrför, God of Speed and Travel in a certain dimension. Ao Lie had acted as his steed in a crucial battle, which saw them combining their strengths for a decisive victory. His summoning to the VIMworld Universe is proof of their friendship, and will bring VIM lords a boost in their speed and travels.
Now, Ao Lie finds himself encountering yet another victim of the myriad portals bringing characters to the shores of VIMworld from across the multiverse – this time in the form of Garu, member of the Cyber Dharmapalas.
