November 4, 2022
Good day, citizens of VIMworld!
The time has finally come! You may remember back in August we unveiled our migration plans, with a roadmap of key dates and timelines included. If you missed that, you can check it out here.
One of the most notable deadlines was the ability to migrate VIMs from VeChainThor to the BNB Smart Chain! After a brief extension, that date passed on the 2nd of November, 2022.
A New Dawn Rises on VIMworld
With the closure of the migration facility, you’re no longer able to migrate your VIMs from VeChainThor to the BNB Smart Chain.
What remains is a new armada of BSC-based VIMs, and those are the VIMs that join us for our onward journey to our exciting future. With remorse, we say goodbye to the residual v1 and v2 VeChainThor cohort. These VIMs will now remain on VeChainThor.
An interesting outcome of this, however, is that each VIM now has a new supply, with previously common VIMs increased in scarcity, and certain rarer VIMs now even more scant.
We provide a detailed breakdown of those new numbers in the below tables, highlighting the new supply of each VIM on the BNB Smart Chain, and their relative change overall.
Any VEED remaining inside v2 VIMs on VeChainThor is still redeemable for BSC-based VEED.
In such cases, users are required to send those VIMs to a VIMworld Foundation wallet and will be reimbursed with the same value of VEED tokens on BSC. To begin this process, please reach out to one of our Discord community managers.
Oracle steals the show
After an exciting race to be the VIM with the highest % of circulating supply migrated, Oracle came out on top with 98.51% of VIMs migrated! Honorable mention goes to Arthur, the early leader, and Garu who made a late surge to reach second place overall. Significant numbers of Armstrongs and GrOwls also made last minute migrations. See below the final table of circulating supply migration. Note that the circulating supply figure reflects the number at the start of the migration from VeChain. We will soon announce Oracle’s reward.
A new supply for each VIM
With the migration now complete, a provisional new supply of each VIM is established. See below the new supply of each VIM on BSC VIMworld. Remarkably, early VIMs Armstrong and GrOwl see >60% reductions in their supply levels. Recent VIMs such as Arthur, Taizi and Oracle have fared much better. GhostBeard remains the most scarce, with a new supply of just 47. The total number of VIMs on BSC at this time is 19,530. 28,704 VIMs were minted on VeChain, so taking into account the 100 Hoppiua, this means 9,074 VIMs did not migrate.
No Soldier Left Behind
While the VIMs remaining on VeChainThor will not be able to take part in any future activity with VIMworld, users will still be able to trade and move their VIMs around using the NFT Nufinetes multi-chain wallet or with other VeChainThor wallets in combination with community-built ‘NFT Paper Project’. In the case of the Venix VIM, its utility as a means to pay for transactions on the decentralised exchange, Vexchange, continues uninterrupted.
